  1. It looks very nice, and like a great fit. I hope she enjoys it, and understands what a cool bike it is. Nice job.

  2. I was reading back through the archives, and I noticed you are looking for tires fatter than 27x1-1/4". If you don't mind a heavier tread, Niagara Cycle Works has 27x1-3/8 knobbies available on Amazon. There are also some more road-oriented 1-3/8 tires listed on Amazon (but I was specifically looking for knobbies, myself).

Love the blog, by the way. Just stumbled across it the other day.

  3. Jon, another chap left some tire suggestions as well. The ones I have chosen for now are there because (a) I was anxious to finish it, (b) the tires I got were so very inexpensive, and (c) they were available. However, I will be looking into a wider tire for sure, then my daughter will have a spare set! Funny you mention Niagara Cycle too, they are very close to me and I still have not been there yet. My intention is to get there sometime through the winter (but I want to go with a pocket full of cash, so I am waiting for that to happen first).

  4. What a fine bicycle you've built up for your daughter! I hope she enjoys riding it as much as you seem to have enjoyed building it.
